Young People Friendly Service

How does a service get a Young People Friendly award?

The award is given to health services for the quality of service they offer young people. All health services offer a confidential service and strive to do their best for patients. However in Somerset we have been looking to specifically help services understand young peoples needs whatever your gender or sexuality. Matters such as confidentiality, trust, friendliness of staff and the suitability of information they offer young people are all assessed. Services which reach the recognised standards are awarded the Young People Friendly award

What will this mean for you?
The award will make sure that young people get a quality service.
If you see the Young People Friendly certificate displayed in any clinic or GP surgery or the logo next to any service in the Sex Directory, or on this site you can expect a service that will be:

• Welcoming to all
• Have friendly staff
• Confidential
• Non Judgemental
• Trustworthy

The clinics/surgery will also have information available on a variety of health issues relevant to young people and other local services in the area.


Where can I expect to see the Young People Friendly certificate?
The services which have received a Young People Friendly award will display their certificate within their premises. For all services that have received the award so far, look on the local services page and those with the award will have the logo displayed next to their name.
